UniBarge

FLEET

UniBarge has a wide range of different types of barges with varying tonnages from 1,000 to 12,000.

Making our fleet more sustainable

UniBarge is actively committed to sustainable inland waterway transport. We are working to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and create healthy working conditions aboard our vessels. Our fleet consists of 70 ships and is growing significantly every year. Sustainability and environmental awareness are central to UniBarge, so we aim to anticipate future and more stringent legislation. Our vessels are equipped with Stage V-certified diesel engines with SCR catalysts, which meet the highest emission standards. We are already preparing our vessels for closed inspection and sampling, contributing to safer and more environmentally friendly operations.

We have big ambitions regarding our sustainable fleet, which is why we have built a series of new gas tankers for sustainable and efficient gas transportation and developed Europe’s first dual-fuel green methanol bunker ship.

CO₂ monitoring and environmentally friendly measures

We use the Brainbox system on our inland barges to accurately monitor CO₂ emissions. These data are useful for ESG reports for our clients and ourselves. By using environmentally friendly seals and organic lubricating oils, we further reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainable inland navigation. Part of our fleet even runs on HVO100, a renewable diesel fuel that reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 90%, contributing to our broader CO₂ reduction goals.

Blue Water aboard our inland barges

UniBarge is leading the way in sustainability in many areas, both concerning environmental legislation and innovations that benefit the climate. In addition, we value the health of our crews. One way in which we are looking after this is with closed sampling systems on our inland barges. We also use Blue Water on board, making us unique in the industry. Blue Water ensures that all the water on board, whether for cooking, drinking, or consumption, is always 100% filtered and bacteria-free. In addition to a supportive team and pleasant working atmosphere, we offer optimal working conditions for all our crew members.
